The track was in perfect condition following the running of the pro cars and Wayne was confident in his choice of dial in on a perfect track, Brad’s run produced a 7.657 on a 7.65 dial, this run of 7 thousands of a second over dial in was good enough to take Brad up to 6th place, yes 6th at 7 thousandths of a second over dial in shows how competitive this class is!
In fact Brad’s 2 hundredths of a second run would have resulted in dropping to 23rd if he hadn’t improved.
Saturday morning found Brad facing Laura Turburville in her new rear engine dragster, Brad & Laura have been good friends ever since they both started racing on the same day 6 years ago in Junior dragsters.
Laura made a great effort with a 7.93 on a 7.90 dial in but Brad’s 7.655 on a 7.65 dial saw Brad through to the next round. Brad then faced Steve Ashdown in the next round and drove round Steve at the top end for another round win, the championship leader Simon Gough red lit in this round so Brad had a chance to close the gap on Simon, Ian Powell (2nd in the championship) had also had a first round exit so we were hopeful of a good result.
In the quarter finals Brad was up against Rick Cook, a former super pro champion, Brad tried a little too hard and red lit by 300ths of a second so we were out!
