Santa Pod : FIA Main Event : May 2014

Hi reader

We arrived at Santa Pod for the FIA Main Event, this was a meeting with 47 entries in Super Pro for a 32 car field so 15 competitors would be going home without qualifying for the event, this was to be a stern test for the Lucas Oil driver Brad Jackson with competitors from many European countries. Brad’s first day of qualifying found him in 19th place after 3 sessions which was a great result with a hope to improve this position  the next day. Saturday’s proceedings were hampered by intermittent rain all day and Brad just had one chance to improve, Wayne Jackson made an error on such a well prepared track for this FIA event dialling a time of 7.80 and Brad ran far too quickly with a time of 7.75 @ 171 mph resulting in this run not being counted and Brad dropped to 25th place but he had qualified for the event.

Brad’s first race was against a very experienced German racer Marc Henney, Brad’s reaction time of 0.04 of a second resulted in Brad taking the win and putting Brad through to the last 16. The next round Brad was drawn against Dave Catton, Brad’s team mate in the Nick Good Motorsport team but with no team orders and identical cars this would be an exciting race but sadly the rain came and unfortunately the event was halted. Brad’s fantastic results in this event have gained him more valuable points for the championship.

Kindest Regards

Wayne Jackson
